Ruffled Blouses

In the 1700s, whilst women were still restricted to wearing tight corsets and heavy gowns, men were wearing ruffled shirts. By the mid 1800s, during the Industrial Revolution, men began to favour more basic attire and the ruffled shirts slowly disappeared. Today, however, it is more acceptable for women to wear ruffled blouses. The ruffled details are seen as feminine and they are now available in a range of colours, patterns and fabrics.
